I immediately group text my family a picture after making this dish with only the words CHRISTMAS BREAKFAST in all caps, the unanimous response was, “YES PLEASE!”

Heat 1 cup granulated sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon until it turns into an amber-colored liquid.

Once the sugar is completely melted, stir the butter into the caramel until it is completely melted, about 2-3 minutes. Slowly, drizzle in ½ cup of heavy cream while stirring constantly. Allow the mixture to boil for 1 minute. Remove from the heat and stir in the salt.

Slice the biscuits into cubes, in a large ziplock bag, toss the biscuit pieces with the remaining ½ cup granulated sugar and cinnamon.Add the biscuits to the bundt pan.

Let cool 5-10 minutes. Place a large plate or serving platter over the bundt pan and flip over to remove the monkey bread from the pan.

It’s a combination of a sticky bun and monkey bread, and it is making all our breakfast dreams come true. This super simple recipe is fun to make and fun to eat.

Monkey Bread is made cutting uncooked biscuit dough into bite sized pieces. Note: I use store bought biscuit dough to make this recipe come together quickly and easily. The biscuit pieces are coated in some type of sweet mixture (often cinnamon sugar as well as some type of sauce). The biscuits are layered in a bundt pan, baked, then inverted onto a plate. To eat monkey bread, you simply pull off the biscuit pieces, similar to pull apart bread.

Bourbon Pecan Monkey Bread

There are many versions of Monkey Bread, but this caramel pecan version is my absolute favorite. It has plenty of rich and gooey sauce, the perfect balance of sweet and salty, and crunchy pecans to contrast with the soft, doughy biscuits.

Pecan Caramel Homemade Monkey Bread

Canned biscuit dough is the key to making this recipe quick, easy, and absolutely fuss-free. The end result is gorgeous and super tasty and requires far less time and effort than making a homemade dough. No bowls and no mixer means easy cleanup!

Monkey Bread is a delicious breakfast pastry that is made with little pieces of sugar coated dough that are layered and baked together with a sweet, gooey, buttery mixture. It’s known by many other names including Hungarian coffee cake, bubble loaf, sticky bread, monkey brains, and more.

This recipe is so quick and easy to make that I recommend assembling it just before baking. If you’d like to get some of the prep out of the way you can assemble the bread in advance but don’t add the melted butter-brown sugar mixture. Instead, cover and refrigerate it overnight in the baking pan and add the topping just before baking.

A nonstick 12-cup Bundt pan is the best choice for baking monkey bread. Bundt pans are a type of tube pan with fluted sides that give cakes and breads a decorative edge. A standard tube pan with flat sides will work but the result won’t be as pretty. If you use a standard tube pan with an uncoated finish, be sure to coat it generously with nonstick cooking spray.

Leftovers should be covered and stored at room temperature and for the best quality, consumed within 24 hours. For longer storage leftover monkey bread can be refrigerated for up to a week. Warm leftovers briefly in the microwave before serving.
