Dough. You’ll know when the dough is ready to rise when it becomes smooth and elastic. It should spring back up immediately when lightly pressed and shouldn’t tear when you pull it.

Rise. You may not be able to tell when the dough has doubled in size, so here’s a simple trick for checking if the bread is done rising. Once you believe dough has doubled in size, simply use your fingers to make a half inch indentation into the top of the dough. If the indentation remains, the dough is ready for the next step. If the indentation goes away, the dough needs more time to rise.

What

Done. You can tell the bread is done when the outside has reached a nice dark, golden brown color. Another option is to check the internal temperature of the bread with a digital meat thermometer. Most breads are finished baking when they’ve reached 190° F.

You can also see more bread recipes and learn about freezer meals, too!               Over the years, many people have enjoyed the deliciously fresh meals provided by Subway. Even as a child I have always been a very opinionated individual who enjoys making decisions for myself. It’s one of the main reasons I love subway; even when my mother would only allow me to get the kids meal, I never complained because I could still look through the glass and pick my own toppings and condiments. Obviously, with age, I had even more control over the type of sandwich that I could have- but what does every sandwich start with?

Honey

Whole Wheat And Semolina Subway Bread

This could arguably be the most important part of the sandwich- for without bread, and with nothing to hold the meat, cheese, and condiments together we are left with, what my mother would call, a hot mess.

Allow me to get to the point. For years, the only type of bread that I ever got from subway was the honey oat bread. I’m a simple woman. Though, I do enjoy trying new things, that bread was a staple piece I looked forward to when pulling any subway sandwich together. It didn’t matter if I got the meatball sub, (with extra mozzarella cheese, as always) or even just a turkey bacon club. The sweetness of the bread helped balanced out all of the flavors. The oats (and the five grams of fiber for every 6 inch) made me feel like I was being especially healthy.

So you could imagine the disappointment and utter bewilderment that I experienced when I walked into my favorite restaurant and my beloved bread was gone. POOF. Vanished. It felt as if it was an infringement on my freedom of choice. Why the honey oat bread? Why couldn’t it be the Monterrey cheddar? I haven’t even met anybody who enjoys the Monterrey cheddar!
