Cheesy

I don’t share a lot of indulgent comfort food recipes on here other than desserts, so I figured it was time to share a recipe like this garlic cheese bread.

Garlic Cheese Toast {ready In 15 Minutes!}

This bread is so good I had a hard time knowing when to stop! I wanted to just keep reaching for slice after slice. Cheesy, garlic-y deliciousness!

I’ve never really liked my bread drenched in butter — it just feels too heavy when it is. So I cut back the classic 1/2 cup butter you’ll find in just about any homemade garlic bread recipe and I used 4 Tbsp butter and 2 Tbsp olive oil.

It makes it seem not quite so greasy. These were just the perfect ratios for me, but if you like more butter feel free to add it.

Homemade Cheesy Garlic Bread

This is a versatile recipe, you can swap out the cheeses listed for others that you like, just use any good melting cheese (cheddar, provolone, muenster, etc).

As far as the parsley goes, dried will work just fine too if you don’t already have fresh on hand. It’s not really worth buying a bunch of fresh parsley only to use a tablespoon of it (I’d still use about 1 Tbsp dried). It’s more for looks really, and it adds a hint of flavor.

Like I listed in the recipe, you can use fresh garlic for a more robust flavor or the granulated garlic for a more mellow flavor. Just be sure to enjoy it warm for that gooey cheesy deliciousness!

Personally, I don’t love using extra virgin olive oil in this recipe because it’s stronger in flavor than the more refined regular olive oil. But if you only have EVOO on hand and you don’t mind its flavor peeping through the cheesy garlic bread, go ahead and use it.

To reheat: Toast the garlic bread pieces in the oven at a lower temperature or in the air fryer until heated through and the cheese is melted.

Garlic

Sure! Freeze before baking by wrapping the cheese bread in foil before baking and freeze whole for up to 3 months. When ready to eat, just add a few extra minutes and bake from frozen.

Yes, just melt the butter before mixing it with the garlic and herbs. The bread may be softer than when using oil.

Easy Cheesy Garlic Bread Recipe From Scratch!

To make toast, instead of toasting the whole loaf, slice the bread into slices like sandwich bread. Then top each slice with the garlic herb oil and cheese, toasting until melted and the bread has crisped up. Cut the slices as thick or thin as you like.

It’s not recommended to wrap the cheese bread in foil before baking as it can make the bread soggy. It’s best to bake the bread uncovered on a baking sheet or dish for a crispy texture and golden-brown cheese. Use parchment paper to catch any drips.

Homemade cheesy garlic bread is hands down the best way to enjoy such a simple recipe! Skip the store-bought and make your own freshly made bread to serve with all your favorite meals, especially for dunking into soups and rich pasta sauces!

Easy Garlic Bread

This Cheesy Garlic Bread has been pictured repeatedly on my website since the beginning of time. I want to tell you that’s because I’m so addicted to it. Which of course I am – bread, butter, garlic and cheese. It’s a home run right there.

But truthfully, it’sbecause this food blogger isalwaysscrambling for last second food props when shooting photos and videos, and this Cheesy Garlic Bread is super quick and easy to prepare because it’s made withmelted butterinstead of softened butter.

When I make garlic bread the “normal” way using baguettes sliced almost all the way through then wrapped in foil and baked, softened butter mixed with garlic works much better because it’s easier to smear butter into the slices rather than drizzling.

But for this method when a loaf of bread is split in half OR you use slices of bread, melted butter works much better. The buttery garlic flavour soaks deep into the bread, far better than spreading with softened butter.

QUICK is the operative word here: Mix melted butter, salt and garlic. Split loaf in half lengthwise, drizzle with butter. Bake in lowish oven, top with cheese, melt, devour.

This is a recipe / method that everyone should memorise and use forever. You don’t need to use my exact quantities, make this your own! Add herbs, parmesan, more garlic, less garlic, chilli 😳, truffle 😱, pesto 😍……

Ultimate Cheesy Garlic Bread

Recipe video above. The quickest and BEST way to make Cheesy Garlic Bread - just drizzle with melted garlic butter, bake, top with cheese then melt. Perfect shape for dunking into soups and stews, or upgrade any meal!

1. Bread - I prefer making this with softer bread loaves like Ciabattam Vienna and normal bread, rather than sourdough. Flatter (rather than tall) works better (optimal bread to butter ratio!). Works perfectly with sourdough too, I just like the softer bread for this recipe. Personal taste.

3. Variations - This is a method more than exact recipe, so make it your own! Spread with pesto or other antipasto-type spreads eg olive tapenade, add dried herbs, truffle butter or oil, add sprinkle of parmesan.
