Hello again! It’s Alicia from The Baker Upstairs, and I’m back with another super tasty treat to share with you. This apple cinnamon pound cake combines some of my favorite fall flavors with a tender and sweet pound cake, to make an incredibly delicious dessert!
Even though I know that fall is on the way, this last month of hot summer weather always just seems to drag on and on for me. Between the wildfire smoke in the air, and the kids having lost all motivation to entertain themselves during the day, I’m getting super anxious for fall to start! I keep dreaming of cold, crisp days, with cozy sweaters and warm drinks. Instead it’s in the mid-90’s outside, and my kids are flopping around the living room moaning about how bored they are. They’ll start school in a few weeks, and we’ll go back to our routine, and I know eventually the weather will change and cool down. But for now it’s just way too hot!

I’ve been trying to console myself by starting my fall baking a little early this year. This apple cinnamon pound cake is fall baking perfection. It’s easy to make, delicious, and has the perfect combination of flavors. I may not be able to control the weather, but I can at least make sure we have something delicious to eat, right?
Homemade Apple Cinnamon Bread Recipe
I was inspired by this beautiful cinnamon apple bread from The Happier Homemaker, but I made a few changes to the recipe to make it even easier to make, and to amp up the apple flavor. This pound cake is so good!
I know I’ve said it before, but I always love these recipes with just a handful of simple ingredients! It’s amazing how many delicious recipes you can make with just a flour, butter, and sugar, and a few pantry staples. This pound cake batter is so easy to mix up, using either a hand mixer or a stand mixer. Layering the pound cake batter with the sweetened cinnamon apples ensures that the apple flavor is distributed all through the pound cake. So yummy!
The pound cake is done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. In my oven, it took about 60 minutes to bake, but I would recommend checking the loaf periodically starting at about 50 minutes. As hard as it is to wait (especially because it smells amazing!) it’s much easier to slice if you let the pound cake cool completely before slicing.

To make it even prettier, you can sprinkle the pound cake with a little powdered sugar after baking, but it’s totally not necessary. I love seeing those chunks of cinnamon apple in the middle of each slice!
The pound cake is so light and tender and sweet, and the combination of apples and cinnamon is always fantastic! You could easily make this pound cake into mini loaves, perfect for gifting, or serve it with whipped cream and homemade salted caramel sauce for an unforgettable fall dessert.

During the fall months, I make homemade bread quite frequently. Most of the time, it is Banana Bread or Zucchini Bread. But, fall is all about apples and pumpkins so, Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread or this Apple Bread are often baking in the oven too!
When combining brown sugar and cinnamon with apples, the flavors are always amazing. All three of these ingredients blend so well in this easy apple bread recipe. My family loves it for both breakfast and dessert! I frequently enjoy a slice or two with my evening coffee.

Secret Recipe Club: Apple Cinnamon Bread
When I have homemade apple bread in the oven, my house smells fantastic. It almost smells like apple pie. But, there is no need to burn a fall scented candle when this deliciousness is baking.
I would consider cinnamon apple bread to be a dessert. But, it’s great to serve as a bread offering at Thanksgiving and Christmas too. So, add it to your holiday bread list.
First, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Then, line a loaf pan with parchment paper and set aside. I used a 9×5 loaf pan. Now, in a small bowl mix together the cinnamon and brown sugar. Set to the side.

Next, you will need to core, peel, and dice the apples. Firm apples will work best because they bake better than soft varieties. I like to use Granny Smith Apples, Pink Lady, or Gala. Softer apples when baked become mush.
For the next step, you will need to gradually add half of the flour and half of the milk. Use a spatula to blend, being careful to not over mix. After blended, add the remaining flour and milk, and blend until incorporated again.

Sure, go ahead and make a loaf or two ahead of time. Then, allow the bread to cool completely. It’s best to wrap the bread in plastic wrapping, before adding it to a zippered freezer bag to store.

I used to make it all the time before my husband passed away 2 years ago, but when he died… I stopped doing a lot of things that I loved to do for a very long time. Making bread was one of them. Before Mike passed away, I would crank out 2-3 loaves a week like it was nothing. Sweet bread, savory bread – any bread really. My favorite was cinnamon rolls. I just loved the whole process.
Recently, I dug out one of my bread machine (yes I have two!) to make a new bread recipe I had found. I had totally forgotten how much I really did love making bread! The next day, I dug out my

Bread machine & cranked out 5 more loaves of bread that day… then gave away half of it because I’d made entirely too much bread. I probably could have given away more than half of it… but um… I really love carbs & it’s fresh baked bread soooooo.

It is such a great feeling to rediscover something that I once loved so much. I’m such a different person than who I was before… but reclaiming a part of ‘me’ feels so great. I haven’t put either of my bread machines back in my storage shed either. I think I’m going to keep them out & start making bread regularly again.
Some people may call me a bread making cheater when they hear that not only do I use, but I love, my bread machines. I rarely ever use them to bake bread from start to finish though – like I’ve maybe done it 3 times in my whole life. What I do use it for, however, is the dough feature. I love, love, love the dough feature on my bread machine. I said earlier than I owned two bread machines… the ones I have is a Sunbeam that I bought for under $50 from Amazon and a Williams Sonoma that I found for $12 at Goodwill. Both work great for me… but my favorite is my little Sunbeam. I’ve had it for several years now.
Apple Cinnamon Cobbler
This Apple Cinnamon Twisted Danish Bread is one of the recipes that I made the other day when I finally dusted off my bread machines. I found it on the King Arthur flour website and it instantly intrigued me. I recently was in the North Georgia mountains and I picked up a bushel of apples from an apple farm in Ellijay…. and they really needed to be used – so this was perfect.
I made the recipe as is the first time and it was really good… but then I adapted a thing or two for my own tastes and made it again…and I was seriously WOWED by it. I mean, this stuff is addictive. Like,
Addictive. I may or may not be going into my kitchen after I publish this post and making another batch. I seriously am so impressed by how delicious this recipe is. The dough is spot on. My only issue with the original recipe was that there wasn’t near enough apple for mine
