Personally, I am not a big sandwich person (unless it’s big fatty sub like a cheesesteak) and I have a hard time paying over $5 for a very small loaf of bread.

I broke down went out a bought a bread machine that had a gluten-free setting. The bread machine that I have is an Oster bread machine with a gluten-free setting. When I set the machine to the gluten-free setting it no longer allows me to choose between a 1.5lb or a 2lb loaf. So, I’m assuming it’s a 2lb loaf.

I ended up modifying a recipe on the back of Gluten Free Mama’s flour blend a bit to find the perfect bread machine bread recipe for my family. I have also made this recipe using Pillsbury gluten-free flour.
Making gluten-free homemade bread in a bread machine is as easy as that! Just make sure your bread machine is set to the gluten-free mode.
I have not tried to make bread by hand because honestly, I don’t have time for all of that. I just add all the ingredients into my bread machine and walk away until it’s done.

If your bread machine does not have a gluten-free setting, you will want the setting that only has one mixing cycle (it’s often the quick, rapid, rapid rise, one rise or basic feature). Gluten-free bread does not need a second rise.
If you don’t have a feature with only one mixing cycle, try to see if you can override the pre-programmed settings for a 20-minute mix cycle, 1-hour rise cycle, and 1 hour-bake cycle.
You can also check out your bread machine’s manufacturer website to see if they have a gluten-free setting suggestion for their bread machine. Some bread machine makers have instructions for a gluten-free bread setting for their older models.
Easy Gluten Free & Vegan Bread (bread Machine Recipe)
The best way to measure gluten-free flour is the “spoon & level” method. Using a spoon, scoop the flour into the measuring cup. After you’ve spooned the flour into the measuring cup, use the back of a knife to level off the top of the measuring cup.
I have also included a dairy-free option for the recipe. My husband, myself and youngest son are all dairy-free as well. So now you too can enjoy a gluten-free and dairy-free homemade bread.
I promise it is just as delicious made with the dairy-free butter and milk. Some of my favorite dairy-free alternatives that I like to bake with is almond, cashew or coconut milk. I also like baking with coconut oil or Earth Balance or Smart Balance butter.

Hi Toni! I’m so happy that this yummy bread recipe has been working out for you! As for GF sourdough bread, you can definitely try making one in your bread machine although you will have to play around with the settings on your machine. If you’re not sure what to try because GF sourdough bread is very different than wheat-based sourdough you could also consider using your bread machine to only bake your loaf. I’ll be sharing a new GF sourdough bread recipe soon and it would be a perfect dough amount to bake in a bread machine. I might try it and will let you know how it goes!
Gluten Free Bread Made In A Bread Machine
Hi! Sorghum, millet, GF oat are good options. You could consider increasing the buckwheat flour by 1/2 cup and replacing the other 1/2 cup of flour with something else other than a rice flour.
Hi Sarah! Does your almond milk contain gums or carrageenan? If so, it could add to the gummyness factor. Is your buckwheat flour light or dark? The darker buckwheat is delicious but can taste stronger if you’re not used to it. If the texture of the bread is too wet, try decreasing the liquids by a little bit to see if it helps. Did you mix by hand or try a mixing setting on your bread machine? I have a lot more experience with bread machines now, and can guide you if you want to try making the whole recipe in your bread machine.
Gina! Wow! What a lovely comment to receive! I’m thrilled that you tried the bread recipe and like it! I love it very much too! Ps. this bread bakes nicely in the oven too!

It won’t necessarily double. As long as it smells good, you can see bubbles throughout, it grew after a feeding and you can hear lively activity, that is perfect!
Kristy! Thank you for sharing your experience with this recipe! Does King Arthur GF flour include xanthan gum? If so, it was smart to remove the psyllium husk. Great job!

Hi Katie! Some people can consume buckwheat while following a grain-free diet. Buckwheat is a pseudograin so for some it can be okay. Buckwheat is technically a seed. If you can’t have buckwheat, let me know if you would like me to make some suggestions for other ingredients to try. And I realize that it’s a bread machine recipe but it bakes beautifully in the oven too at 425°F for 1 hour. You can mix the dough by hand if baking it in the oven.
Gluten Free Vegan Sourdough Bread (with Steps To Use The Tangzhong Method)
Hi! You could try but the mixing bowl would have to be really cold and as the cream thickens, you might have to finish by hand. I wouldn’t want your machine to break. But if your machine is heavy duty, it could work.
You can use powder or freshly ground psyllium husk. Decrease the amount to about 75% so instead of 14g try about 10 grams. This Easy Gluten Free & Vegan Bread recipe is so simple to make. By using my bread maker, it takes just 5 minutes to prepare before the bread machine does the work. I also provide an option for baking without a machine. This from scratch allergen bread is delicious and you won’t go back to store bought!
Please note that I created this recipe using the Zero Gluten Bread Maker which I understand is no longer available. If you have a different bread machine you may get different results.

Shop bought bread is full of all kinds of strange ingredients and often includes eggs. I am trying to move away from adding eggs to bread (it seems rather odd if nothing else).
Plus, avoiding adding eggs means that it’s easier to make the bread vegan which can only be a good thing for all the gluten-free vegans out there.

I prefer to use psyllium husk powder, ground flax seeds and chia seeds as my gluten substitutes because they are just seeds ground up and are therefore more natural.
To make a flax egg, just mix one tablespoon of ground flaxseed meal and three tablespoons of water then let it sit for around 15 minutes until thick and gloopy.

Vegan eggs help to give this gluten-free bread structure in the same way that gluten would in regular bread as they absorb water and thicken the dough.
But don’t worry, for this recipe I tell you exactly what to do with your flax or chia seeds in the recipe card below.
You just add them to the bread maker pan along with the other ingredients and they’ll gradually develop the desired properties to
