Cranberry Orange Tea Bread Recipe

Orange-glazed Cranberry bread has a moist and tender crumb and is loaded with juicy cranberries. It has the perfect balance of sweet and tangy and just like our famous Banana Bread, this loaf stays moist for a few days (in case you needed a homemade Christmas gift idea).

This is a copycat version of my favorite bakery’s cranberry loaf and this one turned out even better – more cranberries and the orange glaze makes it truly special. You’ll love every bite.

We love cranberry recipes during the holidays like Sugared Cranberries, Cranberry Bundt Cake, and of course this Cranberry Bread recipe. If you love tangy and juicy cranberries, this recipe is a must-try!

Pro Tip: Tossing cranberries in a little flour coats them lightly and prevents them from sinking to the bottom of the loaf as it bakes. This ensures cranberries are evenly disbursed in the finished loaf.

Orange and cranberry are complimentarily flavored just like peanut butter and jelly. Topping the cranberry bread with orange juice and the orange zest-infused glaze makes this bread irresistible. I’m not sure if it’s breakfast or dessert but I’ve served it both ways. All you need for this easy 3-ingredient glaze is:

Yes, you can use frozen cranberries in the same quantity and add them frozen (do not thaw). You may need to bake just a few minutes longer or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

You can substitute with 2/3 cup dried cranberries and reduce the sugar in the recipe to 2/3 cup since dried cranberries aren’t as tart. The dried cranberries will be juicer if you soak them in very warm water for 10 minutes then drain and pat dry before using.

You can make this a cranberry nut bread by folding in 1/2 cup of coarsely chopped walnuts or pecans when adding the cranberries to the batter.

This sweet bread is total comfort food. All you need is a mug of tea or coffee to go with a thick, fresh slice of cranberry bread.

Pro Tip: Cranberries are only available for a season in grocery stores so buy extra and store them in the freezer so you can keep enjoying this cranberry bread year-round.

Topped with a sweet orange icing and candied orange slices and cranberries.

Fruit is hard to come by this time of year, which is hard for me because baking with fruit it one of my favorite things. But once again, I was reminded of the lovely cranberry. I have made desserts with cranberries (and even some drinks!) and they add such a lovely tartness to sweet treats. And when paired with orange, the flavor is unstoppable.

Orange Poppy Seed Tea Bread With Old Friends

That is why I chose to make a Cranberry Orange Loaf. It reminds me of cranberry orange muffins that I used to love from Starbucks. Not only does the cranberry add tart flavor, but it also leaves the center extremely moist that it’s impossible to put down once you’ve had a bite.

To give this loaf a sophisticated feel, I added candied orange slices and cranberries on top. The fruit is cooked to remove the bitterness and then it’s soaked in a simple syrup to make them sweet. Don’t they add such a beautiful look?

The cake is the easy part -it’s a simple cake batter made with the typical cast of ingredients. Flour, sugar, butter, and milk are all used in this recipe, along with orange juice, orange zest, and cranberries.

Do you see how there are cranberries all through the loaf? That means that the batter was thick enough to hold the cranberries in place so they wouldn’t sink to the bottom. For a little added insurance, the cranberries are lightly coated in a little flour to help them stay in place.

Once the cake is baked and slightly cooled, it’s time to top with an orange icing. The icing is simply made with orange juice, orange zest, and powder sugar. It’s kept thick enough so that it will set firm, but loose enough so that it drizzles.

The final decoration is the candied fruit. It’s a simple process but it does take some time. I recommend starting this while the cake is baking so that they’re ready once the cake is finished and beginning to cool. This moist & flavorful orange cranberry bread is packed with orange zest and tart cranberries, topped with cinnamon streusel, and finished with orange glaze. It’s one of my favorite quick bread recipes to prepare because it always draws a crowd!

Vegan Cranberry Orange Bread

When I think of the fall season, many flavor duos come to mind, but no flavor combination is more delicious than orange + cranberry. I love tart cranberries paired with sunshine-sweet orange. Over the years I’ve shared recipes for cranberry orange muffins, cranberry orange Bundt cake, cranberry orange icebox cookies, and cranberry orange scones… and my classic cranberry sauce and these cranberry brie puff pastry tarts both contain a pop of orange flavor, too. All incredible, but nothing rivals today’s quick bread. It’s the original and I recommend making two loaves because trust me, it will disappear quickly!

Craving plain cranberry bread? You can leave off the streusel and/or orange glaze. Same bake time and temperature. Or if you want to add some sparkle, try adding some sugared cranberries on top before serving.

Similar to banana bread and carrot cake, this bread was even more flavorful and moist on day 2. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love it warm out of the oven, but I especially enjoy it the next morning. It’s a perfect treat to serve guests because you can make it the evening before.

Cranberry Orange Tea Bread

This is moist and tender orange cranberry bread with buttery streusel and a zingy orange glaze. It’s perfect for guests or with a warm cup of tea in the early morning or afternoon. See notes for freezing instructions.

I welcome easy recipes around the holidays. What I love most about quick breads is that they’re universally delicious and, best of all, they’re QUICK! Here are a few seasonal quick bread recipes to make next:
