ThisGarlic Bread Recipe is our go to for making garlic bread! Crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside and tons of garlic and butter. We stopped buying garlic bread at the store when we realized how easy it is to make it at home!
We make this garlic bread so often, we buy garlic in bulk! You can serve garlic bread with a delicious Beef Lasagna Recipe or our favorite Grandma’s Sunday Meatballs and Sauce…and don’t forget tot try our Cheesy Garlic Bread too! It is also an amazing addition to your Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner!

We used a soft (large) Italian bread for this garlic bread recipe. As you can see in the picture above that it’s a pretty normal size thickness, if not leaning towards the thicker side of a baguette.
Crispy Garlic Herb Bread
If you like a thinner garlic bread then you can try using a ciabatta loaf or a smaller french baguette. Basically, you need to find a loaf that looks good to you, because any bread that you use it going to still turn out insanely good.
So glad you asked because yes you can! Classic garlic bread is so easy to make, but if you’re planning a party or hosting a holiday it’s one less thing you have to worry about.
First of all, you can make this garlic butter ahead of time, keep it in your fridge and then just slather it on your bread and bake when you’re ready.
Best Garlic Bread + 3 Cheesy Variations (how To Freeze, Make Ahead)
Also what you can do is take your leftover, cooled garlic bread and freeze it. Wrap it in foil first by putting the two halves back together (cheese side to cheese side) then place it into a freezer bag.
Remove from the freezer bag and place the foil wrapped bread into the oven at 350 for 20 minutes. Now, we ate it just like that, but after the 20 minutes you can open the bread up and place it under the broiler for a minute or two also.
What I love about this garlic bread is that it’s not completely soaked with butter. I’m all about tons of butter, yes, but sometimes people make garlic bread and there’s just way too much butter going on.
Easy Garlic Toast
Because as you can see in this picture there is a good layer of butter and garlic sitting on top of the bread. I’ll say just shy of halfway through the bread, maybe a third.
That right there is a perfect piece of garlic bread. Exactly how much the butter soaks into the bread will depend on what type of loaf you grab to make this recipe. A thinner ciabatta bread might have a little more butter to bread ratio.
As long as you get those super crispy, toasted edges you really can’t go wrong with this garlic bread recipe! Fresh garlic, my friends, is a must. Please don’t grab that pre-chopped jarred stuff when you make this Garlic Bread, it won’t be as good!
Amazing Crispy Garlic Bread
This Garlic Bread Recipe is THE perfect way to make garlic bread! Soft and chewy on the inside with a crispy, flakey crust!
If you like a softer, less crispy garlic bread you can butter the bread then place the halves together and wrap with foil. Bake for 10 minutes, remove the bread from the oven and place the halves open on a baking sheet. Now add the cheese and return to the oven for another 5-7 minutes until the cheese is melted.Dinner is always amped up a little when you serve Homemade Garlic Bread with it, right? This recipe goes fabulously with Spaghetti Bolognese or Spaghetti Carbonara. I say if you’re going to do carbs, do it right (and I am always going to do carbs).

Just mix up the garlic butter mixture, slice the bread and slather it on. Bake in the oven while you prep the rest of dinner! This recipe will take less than 15 minutes and the majority of that is hands off!
The Best Garlic Bread Recipe
Cheesy Garlic bread is one of my favorite comfort foods, it’s one of those combinations that is a classic. The smell of it cooking is SO good, it will bring the entire family into the kitchen sniffing the air and asking what’s for dinner!
Because it’s hands off, I can throw together an Arugula Salad, while it bakes and my main dish cooks, but I’ve known to make it to serve with Instant Pot Spinach Artichoke Dip, too.
The true key to this recipe is simple ingredients, used well. However, if you don’t have the exact same stuff in your kitchen, check out the notes below for how to change this up.

Garlic powder can be used in place of fresh garlic. Use 1/2 teaspoon for every clove (so in this case, you’ll need 2 tsp). Avoid the jarred garlic if you can. Since garlic is a prominent feature of this bread, fresh garlic just tastes better.

Parsley is 100% optional. I think it looks pretty, and adds a little something-something. You can also use Italian Seasoning if that’s what you have.
Leftover garlic bread can be wrapped tightly in foil and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, bake the wrapped bread at 350° for 10-15 minutes.
Homemade Garlic Bread is the BEST! Skip the frozen aisle and make your own using just a few key ingredients. French bread, minced garlic, softened butter, fresh parsley and parmesan cheese combine to make this an epic family dinner side!

It is quite hard to stop reaching for just another slice of this Easy Garlic Bread. Dip a still warm chunk of it in creamy Alfredo sauce or marinara and enjoy. My StuffedGarlic Knots are a great example as well. So delicious!
To make this Easy Garlic Bread, you can use fresh minced garlic, already minced store-bought garlic in olive oil or garlic powder. Each one will give it a different level of flavor intensity. Fresh minced (or grated) garlic will be the strongest. I highly recommend using the unsalted butter and olive oil combo for the topping. It helps the bread to crisp up perfectly. The Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley are completely optional but I recommend trying them. It's a perfect finishing touch and makes this bread truly irresistible.

Pasta is probably the first dish that comes to mind, that goes perfectly with garlic bread. My One Pan Lasagna or the Spinach Dip Chicken Pasta is a family favorite and a slice of garlic bread is perfect
