As a Brazilian, it was about time I shared with you how to make this delicious treat that's gaining popularity across the globe.

Pao de Quejo is a traditional Brazilian cheese roll. It's sold in every corner in Brazil and ithasbeen part of the Brazilian culinary culture for many generations.

I've been eating Pao de Queijo all my life and I have adapted the original recipe to makeiteasier and faster to prepare. I call my version the

Ingredient Keto Jalapeno Cheese Bread

Like you, I try to minimize the time Ispend in thekitchen cooking, so I found a way to simplify the original recipe.

The traditional way of making Pao de Queijo is by heating the milk and oil, and mixing themwith the starch to form a thick dough, similar to making a choux pastry. The dough is then rolled into balls and baked. This takes time and practice. My

is simple to make and we just need to mix all the ingredients in a bowl or blender, and bake in a muffin tin.

Thankfully, I am not lactose intolerant and I can enjoy these cheesy treats. But I have found that you don't need to add any cheese to the dough keeping this recipe dairy-free and still delicious. The tapioca flour/starch added to this recipe gives the rolls an elastic texture and cheesy taste. So if you can't have dairy you can still enjoy these!

In Brazil, sweet or sour Manioc starch (polvilho) is used in place of Tapioca starch. Both of theseare processed from the cassava root and both work well to make Pao de Queijo.

Manioc starch is difficult to find in the US and I have only been able to order it from Amazon. Tapioca is readilyavailable in supermarkets and it's a great alternative toManioc starch.

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Bread

Personally, I think tapioca gives Pao de Queijo a better taste and texture. Both Manioc or Tapioca starch are gluten-free, so feel free to try this recipe with both to find which is your favorite.

And lastly, Pao de Queijo can be served accompanied with many different fillings. Bacon, shredded chicken, sausage, butter, tomato, or even sweets like jams are delicious. My favorite is to dip each roll in a spicy Mexican salsa. I also like to make egg sandwiches withPão de Queijo. I have more suggestions in the notes section below so be sure to read them.

You can make this recipe ahead of time and freeze the batter in the pan. When you’re ready to bake, pop the pan in the oven still frozen and bake. Reheat any left overs in the oven or skillet as needed.

Quick Sunflower Vegan Cheese Bread

I like to use a sharp, raw cheddar cheese when I make this recipe. My favorite brand is an Irish cheese by Kerrygold. Pepper jack or parmesan cheese are also delicious here, and you can also use a combination of cheeses as well. I like adding a little feta cheese on top to mine!

You can substitute the coconut milk for water or regular milk. Be sure to add just a ⅓ cup instead of ⅔ if you use either water or milk.

Try also substituting some of the olive oil with bacon fat. This gives the crust an extra crunch and a lovely flavor.

Brazilian Cheese Bread

If you are bored of dinner rolls then feast your eyes and tantalise your tastebuds with this dairy free version of this cheesy bread also known as Pao de queijo.

I'm really excited to share this dairy free Brazilian cheese bread recipe with you all. I first tried pao de queijo several years ago at a Brazilian restaurant.

It was the name more than anything that intrigued me to place an order and I'm so glad that I did because I am officially hooked.

Easy Brazilian Cheese Bread (pão De Queijo)

I searched the internet, high and low to give me some ideas of how to get the same consistency that I had it at the restaurant.

If you are familiar with this cheese bread then you will realise that the texture and appearance varies from person to person. Most of the images online display a bread that is light, airy, with a soft puffy smooth top.

My recipe is crispy but more dense compared to what you see online. The more runny the batter the more smooth, light and airy the bread will be.

Easiest Brazilian Cheese Bread (pao De Queijo)

Please do be mindful that my rendition is slightly dense because I DID NOT use a blender to blitz the ingredients and the dry ingredients are a higher ratio to the wet ones.

This cheese bread is known for its gooeyness so if you want to replicate the results as you would with animal cheese than it's best to use storebought cheese.

The good thing about this cheesy bread is that it's made with tapioca flour which derives from cassava (a tubular root vegetable).

Brazilian Cheese Bread Or Pao De Queijo {grain & Sugar Free}

Tapioca is naturally gluten free which is good news for celiacs or the wheat intolerant as there were not flour substitution to be made.

I also went one step further by preparing the bread with almond milk and dairy free butter. Again these adjustments had absolutely no bearing on the end result.

I even got a few of my non dairy free cohorts to sample the finished product and told them after they had eaten it, that the cheesy bread was free from dairy and they didn't believe me.

Keto Cheese Bread Almost Zero Carbs!

That just shows the power of gluten and dairy free appetisers - speaking of which. You can have this Latin bread as a quick snack to nibble on during the day or simply impress your dinner guests with it as an appetiser.

Good question! The answer is yes. I would suggest making the dough balls first. Placing them on a baking tray with parchment paper than part freeze them before transferring them to a ziplock bag.

Not sure why this has happened but all is not lost as you can simply distribute the runny batter into mini muffins tins and bake them in there instead.

Yes, once you have placed the batter onto the parchment paper, part freeze (2-4 hours) remove the the tray and store in zip lock bag.

When you are ready to bake, place them on parchment paper and bake for double the time, keeping an eye on them.
