Sausage Bread Recipe Crescent Rolls

Sausage Cream Cheese Crescent Rolls are always a hit, whether you serve them for game day or breakfast! No one can resist the combination of savory sausage, creamy cheese, and puffy, golden brown crescent rolls!

Ingredients! They’re oh-so-easy to make, and they’re totally irresistible. And did I mention that they’re versatile? Because that too! You can serve these for a weekend breakfast with your family, a brunch potluck, or make them as an appetizer for a party or game day gathering.

Breakfast

I totally have a weakness for crescent roll appetizers. Taco rings, pigs in a blanket, cranberry brie bites—I will take them all! I don’t know what it is about crescent rolls that makes them so dang good, but I would eat just about anything rolled up in that puffy, soft, golden-brown dough. Even better, when you use crescent roll dough, you’re saving yourself the hassle of having to measure out flour, make a dough, wait for it to rise, etc. Who has time for that?!

Crescent Wrapped Smoked Sausage

These Sausage Cream Cheese Crescent Rolls might just be my easiest crescent roll recipe yet! All you need to do is stir together the sausage and cream cheese, then roll it into the triangles of dough. Basically, you’re stuffing your crescent rolls with deliciousness! If you’re making these for a party, you can make the filling in advance, then roll it up into the crescent dough and pop them in the oven just before you plan on serving them.

Transfer the cooked sausage to a mixing bowl and add the cream cheese. Stir to combine, making sure the sausage is evenly distributed throughout the cream cheese.

Use a spoon or small cookie scoop to add a spoonful of sausage filling onto each triangle of dough, then roll it up. Place each roll on a baking sheet with the seam side facing down.

Pigs In A Blanket

Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake the Sausage Cream Cheese Crescent Rolls for about 15 minutes, or until the dough is puffy and golden brown. Let the rolls cool a bit before serving (the filling will be super hot!), but serve them warm.

If you have any leftovers (doubtful!), pop them in an airtight storage container and refrigerate them for 3 to 4 days. Reheat them in a 350ºF oven or in the microwave. Sausage Cream Cheese Crescent Rolls can also be frozen for up to 3 months. Let them thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating.

If you’re making these as a party appetizer, they go well with other appetizer recipes like Easy Jalapeño Popper Dip and Soft Pretzel Bites. Making them for breakfast? Then I like pairing them with a sweet option for contrast, like Overnight Baked French Toast Casserole.

No, they’re not! The name and shape are similar, but croissants are made with flaky layers, while crescent rolls are slightly crisp on the outside, but puffy and soft on the inside. Crescent rolls are bread, but croissants are a pastry!

You can make the filling for this recipe a day in advance, but I recommend assembling right before baking and serving, which keeps the dough from getting soggy.
