Since yeast is hard to come by, this bread that I made with a combination of whole wheat flour and plain flour is pretty good though not as fluffy as the yeast one is. It is denser but light and very delicious. And best of all this easy homemade bread without yeast uses just a few ingredients that you may find in your pantry easily. This recipe is classic Irish soda bread recipe that uses no eggs, butter or yeast.

Now add buttermilk to it and mix together till you get a dough. In case you don’t have buttermilk, refer to pro tips below for a quick and easy shortcut.

No Yeast Sourdough Bread

Knead the dough a few times and form a round shape. In case your dough is too sticky to knead add a bit of flour to make it more manageable. Don’t overknead though. Just 8-10 times to form a round shape is enough.

Now with a knife make a cross going through the center of the bread and about 1 cm. deep. This is important so that your bread cooks through the center evenly.

Now transfer to a greased baking tray or even a cast iron skillet and bake for about 40 minutes. Baking time may slightly vary depending upon your oven so do keep an eye on the bread after about 35 minutes.

To check if the bread is done, tap the bottom (I know it is hot) and it should sound hollow when cooked.

Then slice with a serrated knife. Your delicious homebaked no yeast bread is ready. Have it with butter, peanut butter or whatever you fancy. It is deliciously soft with a nice dense crumb inside and a thick crust outside. Enjoy!

Easy And Quick Air Fryer Gluten Free Tapioca Cheese Bread (no Yeast)

This delicious homemade bread needs no yeast and just a few easily available ingredients in your pantry. This is a spin on the classic Irish soda bread recipe. Super tasty. Do try.

1. You could use only plain flour for a less dense crumb if you so like. I prefer half and half proportion as I have mentioned. 2. In case you don’t have buttermilk, take some cold milk (about 1.75 cups), add 2 tsp. lemon juice to it and keep it aside for 10-15 minutes so that it congeals slightly. Use this in place of buttermilk in the recipe. 3. You could replace honey with sugar if you so like but I prefer honey. 4. This crusty bread is best toasted. 5. This bread stays at room temperature for up to 3 days and in the fridge for a week. You can shrink wrap it or store in an airtight container in your fridge.

Easy Cinnamon Bread (no Yeast)

This no yeast bread is inspired by the Australian Damper, a traditional bushman’s bread made with flour and water that was cooked over campfires.

Except I’ve brought it into the 21st century to make the crumb fluffier, more tender and tastier, and made it look like sandwich bread rather than a freeform loaf. (Oh, and we cook this in an oven instead of over fire!)

This is THE emergency bread that you make when you don’t have yeast, or you don’t have time to make yeast bread. It has a proper crumb like real bread, rather than being crumbly like muffins which many no-yeast breads are. It’s mixed in a bowl with a wooden spoon – no kneading, no rising. You’ll have this in the oven in mere minutes!

Easy Air Fryer Bread

In a way that bread made without yeast will never have. But this is as darn close as you will get to a yeast bread recipe

Bread lovers might recognise this as a simplerversion of Irish Soda Bread. It’s easier because the dough is just mixed up in a bowl (ie no kneading at all) and it doesn’t require buttermilk or baking soda which aren’t pantry staples for everyone.

This is just like making your favourite Chocolate Chip Muffins! Mix the dry ingredients, then add the oil and milk. Mix, pour, bake!

Easy Irish Soda Bread Recipe (no Yeast Bread)

Why use a loaf pan?Because the mixture is a very thick batter rather than a kneadable dough (like Friday’s pizza dough or focaccia). So you can’t freeform it like Irish Soda Bread. If you don’t have a loaf pan, make it in a muffin tin – well greased, 20 minutes at 180°C/350°F.

It takes 50 minutes in the oven, so I like to do half the time uncovered to get a lovely golden brown crust, then I cover it the rest of the time (otherwise the crust gets a bit thick and dark).

LOOK at that crust!↓↓↓It’s tempting to just lift the whole thing off and run away with it! (Swipe the butter while you’re at it)
