Sin Bread Recipe

This Mississippi Sin Dip is an easy game day appetizer made with cheese and ham mixed together and baked inside a loaf of bread until it is ooey gooey.

Take a look at all of the cheesy, carb-y goodness above and tell me you don’t just want to dive in with a spoon and go nuts. Mississippi Sin Dip has been around forever, it’s one of those classic appetizer that you’ve probably tried some party somewhere but you never knew what it was called. The first time I made it I was in college and I asked my mom for a recipe that I could take to a party. She gave me her recipe for Mississippi Sin dip. Cheddar cheese, cream cheese, ham, all stuffed in bread and baked until it was ooey gooey. It sounded perfect. I mixed everything up and took it to the party planning to warm it up when I got there. Having pretty much no experience cooking stuff I had put the cheese mixture in the fridge before going to the party and I had no idea how long it would take to warm all of that cold cheese. I think we pulled it out of the oven after about 15 minutes and ate it half cold, which was still delicious but not nearly as good as waiting until everything is melted and creamy :).

Now I’m older and wiser and when I make the dip ahead of time I always take it out of the fridge a few hours ahead of time and I know that if I’m baking it there I have to plan for it to bake for at least 30 minutes when I get there. Of course you can always heat it up before you head to a party. It stays warm for a pretty long time and it’s still delicious at room temperature.

Mississippi Sin Dip

Say hello to a Southern favorite! This is a recipe gem straight out of the home kitchens of the good folks from Mississippi! They’ve created a warm, ooey-gooey, creamy dip loaded with cheese and ham. This appetizer is famous for very good reasons. You will love it…I promise! ♥

I like to use a 16-ounce, freshly baked loaf of french bread, straight from the supermarket bakery. A similarly sized loaf of Italian bread will work just as well.

Food safety is always important. After heating this up, and likely continuing to serve it at room temperature, the general rule of thumb is that a perishable item shouldn’t be left out for more than 2 hours. So since this dip starts out hot, you’ve got a good 30 minutes and 2 hours at room temp.

When served hot as directed, this dip should not be left out to serve to your guest for more than 2 and a half hours.

It’s Football Friday! Thecollege football regular season is winding down;only one more week to go.We move on to Championship Week and bowl games. I am looking forward to both!

We had this dip at our tailgate last weekend. I have no idea why this is called Mississippi Sin, but we’ll just go with it.My Mom got the recipe from one of he co-workers.The recipe is very similar to one of my favorite dips, Crack Dip. (We call it crack b/c you can’t stop eating it)

This dip is super easy to make. Start with hollowing out a loaf of french bread. Set it aside. Next, mix up the filling. Combine diced ham, cream cheese, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and green onions. Fill up the hollowed-out bread with the dip. Wrap the bread in foil and bake.

This is a great tailgate dip because it is great hot andstill really good cold (after the game). You can even heat or reheat this dip up on the grill in the parking lot before the big game. I ate way too much of this.I could have eaten this dip as my meal. SO good! Give this a try the next time you need a dip for friends and family! I promise it will be a hit!

Great for parties and watching football!

I feel like the bread bowl is totally optional.  It looks good, but it isn’t necessary to the success of the dip.  I think this would be just as good baked in a baking dish.

You can heat this up in the slow cooker if you prefer. I would cook it on LOW in the crockpot for a few hours before serving.

I used french bread for the bread bowl. Feel free to use any bread you prefer. This would be delicious with a round Hawaiian bread loaf or sourdough bread.
