Garlic Bread Recipe Pull Apart

Family and friends will be throwing elbows to grab some of this buttery, parmesan-dusted pull-apart garlic bread. This recipe makes two big loaves, which should (hopefully!) be enough to keep the peace. While store-bought or frozen pizza dough is a great hack for weeknight garlic knots, an easy homemade dough makes this version wonderfully tender and light. After the dough rises, get the kids to help divide and shape it into balls. These are stacked in between layers of garlic butter and cheese, then baked in a bread loaf pan until gorgeously golden. Serve with warm marinara for a trophy-worthy Super Bowl snack or as an upgrade to rolls on your Thanksgiving table.

Even in sealed packets, yeast won't last forever. If it isn't foamy after sitting in warm water for five minutes, start again with new yeast.

Bread flour has more protein and gluten than all-purpose flour. It gives breads, rolls, and pizza crusts their sturdiness and chew. You can use all-purpose flour in this recipe, but the bread will be a bit softer and might have less of a rise.

The more garlic is broken down, the stronger the flavor will be (minced garlic is stronger than chopped, and grated garlic is stronger than minced). Here, grated garlic melts into the butter—leaving no little pieces that could burn during baking—and provides the flavor punch you’d expect from garlic bread. Use a microplane or the small holes of a box grater for easy grating!

Have you ever tried my everything bagel pull apart bread? It is, without a doubt, one of the best bread recipes to come out of my kitchen. I wanted something equally as snack-y and satisfying for this holiday season, so I swapped in some everyday foolproof ingredients like rosemary, butter, and parmesan cheese.

I don’t think a finished recipe has ever disappeared faster in my house. (And I make chocolate chip cookies on the regular.)

Pull Apart Bread With Wild Garlic (vegan)

I don’t want to stand in the way of you and this carb-y perfection, so I’ll try to keep this short. This pull apart bread starts with homemade dough. You need 9 simple ingredients including: yeast, sugar, milk, butter, salt, egg, flour, rosemary and garlic powder. Sugar feeds the yeast, while milk hydrates it and gives the bread a softer texture (as opposed to water). Butter, salt, rosemary, and garlic powder add flavor. Egg contributes to the rising and provides more texture and structure.

There are a billion ways to make and assemble pull apart bread. I use a rolling pin and biscuit cutter for my everything bagel pull apart bread and while you can definitely use that same method here, I opted for something even easier today. You won’t have leftover dough scraps this way.

Note: I love cheesy bread, but I appreciate that it doesn’t overpower the rosemary in this recipe. If you’re looking for a heavier cheesy flavor, you will love my homemade cheese bread.

Pull Apart Cheesy Garlic Loaf Recipe

Why fold the circles in half? Folding the dough circles in half gives the bread a solid base where no butter/cheese can seep through. I had so much trouble with a similar recipe when I tried to arrange buttered squares of dough in a loaf pan. The butter leaked everywhere and the bread was a greasy mess. While some butter melts around the sides here, the bread’s base is pretty solid.

This bread fits the bill for a snack, appetizer, or alongside dinner. You can slice the loaf or tear off pieces. Whenever or however you serve it, I’m confident every lucky taste tester will beg for seconds. If you love the garlic and herb butter flavors in this recipe, try these pizza pull apart rolls next. And if you’re craving sugar, this homemade monkey bread is equally mouthwatering and perfectly acceptable for breakfast. 😉

Best bread – The best bread to use for Cheese and Garlic Crack Breadis crusty sourdough or another dense type of bread, but it works well with plain crusty loaves as well.

Roasted Garlic Pull Apart Cheese Bread Recipe

The reason it works better with sourdoughis because the bread is denser so the bread tends to hold together better when you pull bits off. But believe me, there is no compromise on flavour if you use other types of bread! In fact, in the photo I chose to use a crusty Vienna loaf because it was on special.

Best cheese –I really recommend using mozzarella cheese for this, you want it to stretch and pull when you tear the pieces off.

Other flavourings –I kept the flavours quite simple, going for a garlic bread with cheese, but you can go really wild with the flavours for this! Ranch dressing, kick of chilli, other herbs – the possibilities are endless!

Easy Cheese And Roasted Garlic Pull Apart Bread

When it comes out of the oven, it’s all golden, crusty and buttery on the inside and you know that’s just the start of the eating experience that’s about to commence….

Everybody goes so nuts over the cheese bits that you pull out, but my favourite part is thebase of the bread. All the butter and cheese drips to the bottom and it bakes so nice and crispy…..

Garlic

This is a great centrepiece for a dinner that could just be accompanied bya fresh salad to make a complete meal. Or as a fabulous appetiser or party food – think game day!

Cheesy Garlic Bread Recipe

It’s by far the most requested party food by my family and friends. I usually make it at home then take it to the venue and bake it there. Thebest way to make ahead is to use softened butter instead of melted butter and slather it into the cracks, then stuff with cheese. Wrap and bake before serving.

But you can evenbake it in advance then reheat quickly in the microwave as long as you use a crusty sourdough. The crust gets so crusty when you bake it, it stays crusty even if you reheat it in the microwave.

Go forth and enjoy! Make this cheesy garlic bread once, and you’ll be asked to make it again and again and again….

Recipe video above. This is garlic bread - on crack! Great to share with a crowd, or as a centre piece for dinner accompanied by a simple salad.

1. Make Ahead -The best way to make ahead is to usesoftened butter instead of melted butter, mix with garlic, salt and parsley then smear into the cracks. Stuff with cheese, wrap and refrigerate or freeze. To cook, thaw then follow recipe instructions to bake.

Garlic

To make ahead so that it just requires a brief 2 minute reheat in the microwave to serve, you must use a crusty sourdough loaf. Bake per recipe (including unwrapped stage), then wrap it up in foil and let it cool. Refrigerate up to 3 days, then to serve, just microwave for 1 1/2 - 2 minutes on high just to melt the cheese again. Because the crust gets so crusty in the oven, it stays crusty even when reheated in the microwave.
