Baking away. Homemade oat bread is hard to resist warm just out of the oven, but is just as good warmed up for toast in the morning or afternoon snack.

Oatmeal Bread With Molasses And Honey Recipe

I get tired of oatmeal cereal every morning but I still need something to keep me going until lunch and surprisingly enough, just one slice of this amazing oat bread recipe is all I need.

Honey oat bread has oats of course, but also whole wheat flour mixed with all purpose flour for both texture and flavor. For a crunchier texture try an apple oatmeal bread with walnuts.

Of course it has honey inside and more honey brushed on the outside before baking. I like the idea of using honey instead of sugar when possible. The honey not only gives a slightly sweet taste to the bread itself but helps keep the oatmeal sprinkled on top in place so that it can get brown and toasty while it bakes.

Honey Oat Bread (no Bread Machine Needed) / The Grateful Girl Cooks!

Oat bread has rolled oats in the dough. These large flakes of oats give the bread more texture and a hearty flavor without the crunchiness that you get with some whole grain breads. This makes it ideal for sandwiches or toast.

Heat some butter, milk and water in the microwave until just warm and then add honey to it. Add to the flour mixture and mix with the dough hook until smooth and elastic. Cover and let it rise until double, about an hour. If you don’t have a stand mixer, you’ll have to knead this by hand

Place in a 9 x 5 loaf pan, cover and let rise about 45 minutes. You can use an oven that was at 200Âş and then turned off or my favorite way it to let it rise in the microwave. Just heat up some water first and that will make it warm.

Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown. Remove and let cool completely if you can.If not, I won’t judge. You will get anywhere from 12-16 slices out of the loaf.

Pro tip: If your loaf is browning too quickly on top before the rest of the loaf is baked, you can use a large piece of aluminum foil and make a tent to stick over the top of the loaf pan to shield it.

Now that you have a warm delicious slice of oatmeal honey bread, slather it with butter and honey, or it’s a great way to enjoy homemade strawberry or peach jam. Eat this with a couple of cheesy sausage balls or a crustless quiche for the perfect brunch or breakfast.

Oat bread will stay fresh on the counter in an airtight bag for 1-2 days, after that it will quickly get dry. The best way to store homemade bread is to freeze it if you aren’t going to eat it in 2 days. If you store it in the refrigerator it can easily dry out.

Homemade honey oat bread, like any homemade bread does not have preservatives so it will not stay fresh long. If you’re not going to eat it in three days, freeze it so that it doesn’t get stale. Otherwise, once it’s cooled, store it in an airtight bag on the counter.

When it comes to bread, I love a loaf that delivers some whole grain goodness, but that also maintains a lovely soft crumb, like my Seeded Multigrain Sandwich Bread. This Honey Oat Bread also falls into that camp, with a good bit of rolled oats and a touch of whole wheat flour added into the mix.

I love this loaf for its great flavour from the oats and honey, its tender, moist crumb and its rustic, oat-rolled appearance. This oat bread keeps well, slices beautifully and makes the most fabulous sandwiches!

This loaf will need a solid 45 minutes in the oven or until it reach at least 200F internal temperature when tested with an instant read thermometer. Be sure you are inserting the thermometer in the dead centre of the loaf for the most accurate reading. It shouldn’t have over-browned in that time, but check your loaf at about 35-40 minutes and if it seems in danger of over-browning, lay a sheet of aluminum foil loosely over-top for the last part of baking.

The addition of soaked oatmeal to this bread produces a lovely, moist loaf, but it also means the loaf will need longer in the oven to bake off some of that moisture. This loaf will need at least 45 minutes in the oven, which is quite a bit longer than most bread loaves. A thermometer is best for testing done-ness, but if you don’t have a thermometer, err on the side of leaving it in the oven a few minutes longer, rather than rushing it out, to ensure you don’t end up with a loaf with an under-done middle.

This bread will keep well, well-wrapped on the counter for several days. This bread will also freeze beautifully up to 3 months.

Hi! I’m Jennifer, a home cook schooled by trial and error and almost 40 years of getting dinner on the table! I love to share my favourite recipes, both old and new, together with lots of tips and tricks to hopefully help make your home cooking enjoyable, stress free, rewarding and of course, delicious!Honey oat bread is easy to make in the bread machine with just a few simple ingredients. You can use all-white flour, or substitute a bit of whole wheat flour for a heartier loaf.

Oatmeal Honey Bread Machine Bread

Honey oatmeal bread is one of my favorite sandwich breads, and the extra texture from the oats really goes well with deli meats and crisp lettuce. A little bit of honey makes it just sweet enough, but not too sweet.

The butter added to this honey oat bread makes it just rich enough to make a truly excellent french toast as well, and it’s lovely as plain breakfast toast too.

(I’m baking this as a 2-pound loaf in my Zojirushi Supreme Bread Machine, which makes beautiful horizontal loaves in a pan that uses two paddles for more efficient mixing. I’ve worked with a number of different machines over the years, and this one’s my favorite. I’ve also included instructions for a 1 1/2-pound loaf if you’re working with a smaller machine or a machine that bakes vertically since they don’t work as well with full-sized loaves. To make an extra small 1-pound loaf, just divide the 2-pound quantities in half.)

Easy Honey Oat Bread (gluten Free, Dairy Free Option)

The ingredients for this simple honey oat bread aren’t all that different from my Bread Machine Honey White Bread, but this recipe uses just a slight bit more milk (and less water), and a bit more honey for extra sweetness. And, of course, it also incorporates oats for a heartier loaf.

I’ve also opted for butter in this recipe instead of oil, but you can substitute vegetable oil instead if that’s your preference.
