Bread Recipe Without Yeast Vegan

There is nothing like the smell of warm homemade bread that has just come out of the oven. It has a happy, cozy feeling attached to it. Which I think we could all use more of.

Traditional homemade bread uses yeast but if you don’t have it or the stores are all sold out, don’t fear! This delicious yeast-free bread is made using baking powder!

No

This bread is more like a crusty country bread than a light and fluffy sandwich bread. Of course, you can and absolutely should make sandwiches with it! And toast slathered in butter (oh my, so good.)

Make sure your baking powder is still active! To test it, add a teaspoon of baking powder to a bowl, then pour 1/2 cup of very hot water over it. If it bubbles heavily, the baking powder is good to go! If not, open a new can of baking powder or make a DIY version if you’re in a pinch!

The best part of this bread is how easy it is to make! With no yeast, there is no need to let the bread rise, and there is very little kneading necessary.

If you’d like to prep a few loaves ahead of time, you can freeze this bread dough for up to 3 months. Form into a disc, then wrap the dough in plastic wrap and place in an airtight freezer bag or container.

Easy Flatbreads (no Yeast)

Because homemade bread does not contain preservatives, it won’t last very long if left on the counter at room temperature. I typically only leave my bread out for a day. After that, store in the fridge or freezer.

Note that the bread won’t be very crusty after the first day. You can stick the loaf back in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes to get that crusty top back.

All this meaning, it will be less than an hour from start to the finished and ready bread for you to taste. I have to admit, I’m not big on making bread in general as I’m kind of too lazy to do all the proofing, kneading, waiting… it also scares me a bit, haha. So that is one of the reasons why I’m so happy to have this recipe. It is also wholesome, made with spelt and rye flour, oat milk and abundance of healthy seeds, which is also immensely important to me.

No Yeast Bread • Green Evi

This is essentially a recipe for a traditional Irish Soda Bread which I veganized and made wholesome adding subbing some of ingredients like butter, milk and white wheat flour with more wholesome and/or vegan ingredients. In it the absence of yeast is replaced with adding baking soda and something acidic like vinegar or lemon juice. That’s why there’s no need for proofing the dough. It can go straight into the oven.

To make a traditional Irish Soda Bread (check out this recipe), you need flour, soda, eggs, vinegar, salt, sugar, milk and butter. and for this Rye and Spelt wholesome version you will need:

You can also use nuts or dried fruits like raisins and cranberries instead of seeds, but I do recommend adding something as it makes the bread more moist and delicious. If you do not use anything, it can come out quite dry.

Yeast

Homemade Vegan Bread (no Dutch Oven Needed!)

Very. You should be done preparing it in 15-20 minutes. You literally place dry ingredients in the bowl, rub in the cold butter, add milk with vinegar, mix with a spatula, transfer onto a well floured surface and roll and flip the dough until floured enough so it doesn’t stick. And then bake. Yes, so easy. No proofing or serious kneading needed. Just this morning I made two loafs in less then 30 minutes. Definitely beats going to the store to get some, especially now that we’re confined to stay at home.

Ingredient Vegan Power Bread {oil Free, Gf}

Vegan Potato Flatbread Recipe • Veggie Society

Hi Alissa! So happy that you’ve found my recipes! As for the yeast-free bread, you could consider replacing the rice flour with more sorghum and oat flour or try buckwheat flour or millet flour as an alternative. I haven’t tested all variables so I can’t promise it will have the same exact texture but it should be very close. If you can consume almonds, almond meal/flour could work well too.

You can use powder or freshly ground psyllium husk. Decrease the amount to about 75% so instead of 14g try about 10 grams.

Hi Kaye! You can sub arrowroot with tapioca starch, potato starch or in a pinch if you do consume corn products I believe cornstarch could work too.

No Yeast Bread Recipe (6 Ingredients)

Hi! Do you have a basic white or rapid setting on your bread machine? That might work better as you only need to mix and baking this recipe. Or us a dough setting and mix the ingredients for 5 minutes then reset your bread machine to bake for 1:10 up to 1:20 minutes. If it’s still too wet decrease the liquids in the recipe. I have many new bread machine recipes in my new cookbook and a few are without yeast. I also have this recipe that could work for your mom: https:///easy-to-make-low-carb-flaxseed-bread-machine-recipe/ Simply leave out the pinch of yeast. Let me know if you have more questions. Hi Joanne! I don’t see why not. If you like walnuts, go for it! Pecans, hazelnuts, or sliced almonds would be equally tasty if you can consume any type of nuts. Ps. I froze some of the bars the last time I made a batch, and they are SO good to enjoy as a nice treat once in a while when the craving hits me. Especially if you can’t have traditional pecan bars/pie or butter tarts with gluten, sugar, eggs, dairy, etc., these maple bars are such a nice treat! If you do freeze some of the leftover bars, it’s best to thaw a little bit before eating or place the piece on a plate in the microwave for a few seconds.

Hi! Thank you for trying this recipe! I am not an expert at deep frying but from my experience the oil has to be hot enough or the donuts will absorb too much oil and result in greasy and soggy donuts. Ideally 350-375°F. The temperature will drop a bit once the dough is cooking. Are you cooking on a gas or electric stove? Did you use a candy thermometer to check the temperature of the oil? I mean if yours were getting too dark too fast, lower the temperature even more next time to see if it’s better.

Easy Homemade Focaccia (no Yeast)

Hi! I haven’t made these in a while. I do have organic coconut milk (can) and could try a version without brown rice flour. Which GF flour is in your gluten-free starter? Tell me, when you bake grain-free, which ingredients can you consume? Do you eat buckwheat (pseudograin)? What about cassava flour, coconut flour, tiger nut flour, etc.? What about starches? Are you okay with potato starch and tapioca starch? Let me know so we can create a new version for you. What about sugar? Are you okay with coconut sugar or maple syrup?

Hi! Can I ask which brand of GF baking powder you tried? Is your batter too wet or not wet enough? And the apple? What kind did you use? Let me know so I can help you 😉This easy no yeast vegan bread recipe needs just 7 ingredients and comes together in minutes. It will become your new favorite bread recipe in a pinch.
