I taught her how to bake whole wheat bread from scratch and we converted it to a dairy-free bread machine recipe that was “safe” for her dietary needs. When I make my white bread machine recipe I make it from start to finish in my bread machine. From mixing the ingredients, kneading, rising, “shaping”, rising again, and baking. Yum, freshly baked bread with no effort at all!

But did you know that most bread making machines have a dough setting too? Using the dough setting you can remove the mixed, kneaded, and risen dough from the machine and shape it the way you’d like, put it into another pan, and bake it in the oven.

I first measure the oat milk and heat it slightly in the microwave until it’s pretty warm – not hot – but definitely warmer than room temperature. This matters more if you are making bread the traditional method without a bread maker. But you still won’t want your plant milk to be ice cold either for the best yeast development.

If you are unsure how warm the milk should be then use a thermometer and check. It shouldn’t be any warmer than about 120 degrees F.

Sweet And Simple! Vegan Cinnamon Raisin Bread Maker Recipe!

I add the coconut oil to the warmed milk. It should get a little bit melty if the temperature of the milk is warm enough. If your coconut oil is older and hard it won’t melt enough to use. Pop it in the microwave for a few seconds.

The coconut oil does not need to be perfectly melted before adding it to the bread machine but should be very soft.

I first add the warmed milk and coconut oil. Next, I add the agave syrup. Then I add the salt, flour, and finally the yeast. I make a little “well” in the center of the flour and add the yeast to that indentation.

Easy Homemade Gluten Free Bread Recipe

This recipe was developed using the Cuisinart Bread Maker, Up To 2lb Loaf, New Compact Automatic bread machine. If you are using a different bread machine then it is important to understand the settings of your machine.

I set my bread machine to “white bread”, “medium loaf” (1 1/2 lbs.), and” medium crust” (doneness/browness). The bread machine will go through all of the steps from mixing, kneading, rising, punch down, 2nd rise, and baking till finished. My bread machine takes 3 hours and 25 minutes to go through the process. Your machine might be different.

Can we skip to the good part? The baked bread will cool enough in your bread machine to safely remove. Do make sure to remove the paddle attachment from the baked loaf if it didn’t come out when removing the loaf from the pan.

While there is absolutely nothing better than warm freshly baked bread with (vegan) butter slathered on top, try to be more patient than I am and allow for cooling before cutting into your fresh bread or the loaf will smoosh down.

After it cools keep it tightly wrapped and this loaf will last for a few days. If you are using it for sandwich bread then I recommend waiting to cut it into bread slices till just before use.

Easy Dairy Free Bread Recipe

This bread does not have preservatives and so will not last as long as a store-bought loaf of bread. Though to be honest I’ve never put it to the test. It simply doesn’t last long enough in my house.
